A real-time encoding and decoding system for nonlinear HDTV editor
نویسندگان
چکیده
A real-time encoding and decoding system (REDS) for HDTV that can be used for nonlinear HDTV editing in studio has been developed. The intrapicture coding of motion JPEG is implemented and optimized in the REDS so that a high-quality image can be recovered for the nonlinear editing. The REDS has a parallel architecture with multiple programmable digital signal processors (DSP) and reconfigurable field programmable logic devices (FPLD). The HDTV image is spatially partitioned and concurrently processed by the multiple processors. The programmable DSPs perform the discrete cosine transform and quantization to reduce the spatial redundancy of the HDTV image, whereas the FPLDs perform the variable length coding to reduce the statistical redundancy. In addition, field-based quantization matrices are developed for HDTV images. The REDS has the programmability and the random accessibility of image frames, the two most important features for a nonlinear HDTV editing system. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A real-time encoding/decoding system (REDS) for HDTV editing
4 programmable and scalable parallel architecture i s proposed for the real-time encoding/decoding of I-IDTV images and for nonlinear editing of the compressed video data. It only use!; the intra-mode compression/decompression so that nonlinear editing can be performed easily and high-quality images can be recovered. Spatially partitioned image data are concurrently processed by multiple parall...
متن کاملHd Production Codecs
The introduction of HDTV in Europe requires that broadcasters renew their production equipment. Whilst HDTV equipment in the past has targeted tape-based solutions, the user requirements for modern HDTV production workflows are file-based, non-linear and non-real-time – with shared access via networks and servers – and, last but not least, they have to be cost-effective. These requirements put ...
متن کاملA 50% Power Reduction in H.264/AVC HDTV Video Decoder LSI by Dynamic Voltage Scaling in Elastic Pipeline
We propose an elastic pipeline that can apply dynamic voltage scaling (DVS) to hardwired logic circuits. In order to demonstrate its feasibility, a hardwired H.264/AVC HDTV decoder is designed as a real-time application. An entropy decoding process is divided into context-based adaptive binary arithmetic coding (CABAC) and syntax element decoding (SED), which has advantages of smoothing workloa...
متن کاملAnalysis of Freely Available Subjective Dataset for Hdtv including Coding and Transmission Distortions
We present the design, preparation, and analysis of a subjective experiment on typical HDTV sequences and scenarios. This experiment follows the guidelines of ITU and VQEG in order to obtain reproducible results. The careful selection of content and distortions extend over a wide and realistic range of typical transmission scenarios. Detailed statistical analysis provides important insight into...
متن کاملOn Jointly Optimal Real-Time Encoding and Decoding Strategies in Multi-Terminal Communication Systems
We consider a communication system consisting of two encoders communicating with a single receiver over a noiseless channel. The two encoders make distinct partial observations of a discrete-time Markov source. Each encoder must encode its observations into a sequence of discrete variables. The sequence is transmitted over a noiseless channel to a receiver which attempts to reproduce the output...
